- Posted on
THIS THURSDAY! We have a seriously special event here at STP, we have teamed up with our buddies @heartofsoul.lewisham to host a very rare meet & greet / signing party with Daryl Howard of @thenurons !
Hailing from Salem, New Jersey, these soul veterans have been harmonizing together for over 40 years. Known for their rare and cherished 1970s singles like “All My Life,” “I’m A Loner,” and “Disco Hustle,” The Nu’Rons earned a reputation as one of the top acts to emerge from the vibrant Philly/Jersey soul scene.
First time in the UK (or leaving the USA) This is a one off, full circle moment for Daryl of The Nu’Rons to hang out and come face to face with his UK fans - who hold them as a true cult name in Northern soul
Their track All My Life, originally released on their own Nuron label, became a staple at places like Wigan Casino.
Join us to celebrate with DJs, have a dance and raise a glass - the chance to meet a living legend! Entry is free, kicking off from 6pm.
We’ll also have very limited copies of the new ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ 7” pressing for sale, pressed on cherry red vinyl, which Daryl will be happy to sign on the evening. These are otherwise unavailable outside of the US so be sure to snag one while you can!
“The Nu’Rons, a family group consisting of two sets of brothers & cousins; Daryl Howard, Raymond Howard, Otho Bateman & Charles Bateman, began their singing career prior to their teenage years. Finding their voice at their local Church singing gospel, the group would soon be led by Daryl’s older brother Raymond as their manager to secure local gigs.
Being influenced by Soul, Funk & Doo Wop sounds of the time, the Nu’Rons teamed up with writer & producer Emanuel Campbell to record their first release ‘All Of My Life / I’m A Loner’. The success of this release secured the group a future of writing, performing and recording at various studios from there on in.”
PLUS don’t miss Heart of Soul’s third Anniversary knees up in Lewisham this Saturday May 8th, where you’ll be treated to a rare live performance from Daryl, alongside Heart of Soul’s amazing resident DJs!
