Silent Servant - In Memoriam

Now available again, Silent Servant returned to the Tresor label for a new EP entitled In Memoriam in November 2023. Sadly it would prove to eerily foreshadow his untimely passing a mere few months after its release, proving to be the last from the singular producer and founding member of the legendary Sandwell District. Tracing the line of influences he internalised and carried across his three decades in dance, each track on In Memoriam is named in deference to (and is influenced by) a particular regionally and chronologically specific strain of techno. Primordial Detroit machine funk, Belgian industrial, Berlin chillout, and UK hardcore all get their flowers here, with the ice-cold precision we’d come to expect from Juan Mendez, tying it all together with love.
