Originally released in 1959 on Riverside Records, Out of the Blue is jazz trumpeter Blue Mitchell’s second album as a leader. The album captures Mitchell in the prime era of late-1950s hard bop during his prominence playing in the Horace Silver Quintet, and features an all-star lineup including Benny Golson (tenor saxophone), Wynton Kelly (piano), Art Blakey (drums) and Sam Jones (bass). This limited edition features the original mono mix of the album with lacquers cut from the original tapes (AAA) by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound and is pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing.
