Double vinyl reissue of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s The Miners’ Hymns includes the new bonus track Centennial as well as new additional liner notes and photos by filmmaker Bill Morrison.
The album is a collaboration between Morrison and Jóhann Jóhannsson who, with images and music, created a wordless documentary to depict the ill-fated mining community in North East England. The film is a timely reminder of choices that were made a generation ago regarding the role of labour in a corporate-based economy, the repercussions of which are still being felt today.
