Anarcho-dub punks from Nagasaki, Japan, this mutating crew of anti-specialists, are united in one sonic aesthetic, and that is to seriously fuck with digital dub steppas. Disciples of Jah Shaka, Iration Steppas and Aba-shanti, but based in faraway Japan, G36 have chosen to fiercely mess with Roots, whilst consciously steering away from the stale formulas of conventional reggae. Instead they channel the pummelling attack of stripped back steppas rhythms via their passion for manga, science fiction and S&M, into brutally overdriven, ballistic dancefloor weapons. Like Mark Stewart and Maffia versus Underground Resistance for dread dub militias. The Vex Riddim included here, provided the backing track for Nazamba’s recent killer 12”, Vex on Pressure, which Kahn, OBF and and Don Letts spun mercilessly. Floor Weapons Vol.1 has already received support for the relentless riddims from the likes of Optimo, Jk Flesh, Ishan Sound and Ossia (Who will release their follow up single on his Hotline label imminently).
