Moanin’ is a 1959 (recorded in ‘58) album By Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. It was the first album the celebrated drummer and his band recorded for Blue Note. The band featured players who were, or went on to be, jazz greats in their own right: Lee Morgan on Trumpet, Benny Golson on Tenor Sax, Bobby Timmons on Piano and Jymie Merritt on bass.
